We are pleased to announce that TAKIGAHARA CRAFT&STAY has been included in “The 30 Collection” in the Forbes JAPAN Destinations of the Year 2026, an award organized by Forbes JAPAN in collaboration with J-CAT that recognizes initiatives creating new value in regional tourism.

Nestled in the mountains of Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, the village of Takigahara is a small community of around 170 residents, where quarrying and agriculture have long shaped local life. TAKIGAHARA CRAFT&STAY consists of an 80-year-old stone storehouse and multiple traditional Japanese homes restored to modern comforts. Guests have the opportunity to experience the culture of satoyama living that has been passed down through generations, with experiences centered on food, craft, and agriculture.

Through tours of the Takigahara stone quarries led by local residents, as well as experiences developed in collaboration with Natadera Temple, we contribute to  Komatsu City’s stone culture as designated by Japan Heritage, and we enrich the local way of life in harmony with nature. A portion of the profits generated through these activities is reinvested in the maintenance and restoration of traditional homes and stone storehouses, the revitalization of abandoned farmland, and the preservation of the satoyama landscape.

Encouraged by this recognition, we will continue working to create an environment and nurture the people who will carry Takigahara’s nature, culture, and local wisdom into the future.
