Opening of TAKIGAHARA SAUNA
SHARE

In June 2025, a brand-new private sauna facility, TAKIGAHARA SAUNA, has opened within the grounds of TAKIGAHARA.

Surrounded by open fields, this standalone sauna cabin was designed under the supervision of Kengo Kuma & Associates. The space brings together the essence of Ishikawa’s natural materials and architectural beauty, creating an atmosphere that is both serene and powerful. Supervised by the sauna design team Sauna Idea, the structure offers a refined environment where guests can reconnect with nature and experience deep relaxation.

What Makes TAKIGAHARA SAUNA Special

Step into the sauna room, where Hinoki cypress from Ishikawa fills the air with a gentle, forest-like fragrance. As the warmth seeps in, your body slowly relaxes and unwinds.

Another key feature is the stone bath made from “Kobisei” rust stone, a distinctive local stone of Takigahara. Its smooth, mineral surface cradles the hot water and warms the body with a grounded, earthy energy, delivering a bathing experience that is both powerful and tranquil.

After the heat, cool down in the “Dokan” cold bath, a large pipe-style tub filled with fresh spring water drawn from beneath the land. Or, immerse yourself directly in the clear stream that flows through the site. The chill of the water, paired with the sounds of the forest, creates a deeply sensorial and meditative connection with nature.

Finish your session with an open-air rest on the wood deck, facing Mount Kurakake. The rustling of trees, the calls of birds, the expanse of sky—this peaceful setting helps you breathe deeply and reset both body and mind.

Every detail of the space from the materials to the flow of movement has been thoughtfully crafted, blending sauna expertise with architectural elegance. The result is a place where the power of space itself becomes part of the experience.
