The Takigahara region was once a center for quarrying and agriculture. While this local industry remains, in a more laidback sense, its legacy lives on through Takigahara House. This 80-plus-year-old farmhouse has gone through a reinvention and is now a double-story guest house that balances a cozy farmhouse ambiance with an airy, open interior design.

On the first floor is the open-plan kitchen, dining, and living space, and large bathroom complete with a soaking tub.

With a small electric hotplate, bar fridge, and basic cutlery/ cooking utensils, the space is great for homebodies who want to balance travel and adventure with the private comfort of cooking occasional meals at home. The second floor is dedicated to the single, spacious bedroom that can sleep up to four guests.

At TAKIGAHAHARA, there are no restrictions on dog breeds, indoor or outdoor dogs. You and your dog can stay at TAKIGAHARA HOUSE.

This light-filled private room comes with a queen-sized bed, two bunk beds, and a view of Mt. Kurakake. Great for families and couples.

This cozy four-bunk-bed private room also comes with a desk and window looking out onto the farm. Great for groups of friends.

This is the main sleeping quarters, with high ceilings and original farmhouse timbers; this spacious room houses 16 bunk beds and a communal workspace. Each bed also comes with a curtain partition for privacy. Great for larger groups and solo travelers.
